Infants & Nursery School

EYFS

All aspects of our curriculum are accessible to all children, irrespective of their ethnic background, gender, disability, religious or linguistic background. We strive hard to meet the needs of those pupils with special educational needs, those with disabilities, those who are more able, those with special gifts and talents and the children who are learning English as an additional language. We provide a rich, challenging curriculum, which stretches all of our children. Staff are aware of children who have exceptional talents and gifts and monitor or track their progress carefully to ensure their academic potential or talent is continually developed.

KS1

Our vision at Oakleaf Primary School is to enable children to be kind, curious, respectful individuals who foster a love of learning.  Key Stage 1 will continue to secure solid foundations that the children created in the EYFS.  Our transition into Year 1 is planned meticulously so that children gradually adapt to the more structured curriculum.   It is our aim to guide the development of children’s capabilities with a view to ensuring that all children are ready to benefit fully from the opportunities ahead of them.  In particular, we want children to develop their independence and build resilience ready for the next stage of their journey as they transition to Key Stage 2 at the end on Year 2.

Our bespoke and inspiring Key Stage One Curriculum is designed to hold our children at the centre of our curriculum as well as immersing our children in a language rich environment.  We have designed our curriculum to ensure that vocabulary is progressively taught from the moment they start with us so that all children, whatever their background, can thrive and communicate effectively.

Junior School

The Oakleaf Primary School curriculum is designed to reflect our local community and the needs of our children. Reading threads through all aspects of the curriculum with carefully planned core texts providing a rich vocabulary and love of books. At Oakleaf, our rich and inclusive curriculum will provide a breadth of learning experiences with a balance of progressive skills and knowledge. Our curriculum seeks to motivate and inspire children by creating memorable learning where children think deeply, extend their thinking and develop their ideas further preparing them for the next stage in their lives.

The Oakleaf values are at the heart of our curriculum and all that we do

The Oakleaf Primary School curriculum is taught through subject disciplines. It is organised into Lower Key Stage 2 (Year 3 and 4) and Upper Key Stage 2 (Year 5 and 6). Where possible, links are made between between Foundation Subjects and English through core texts and writing opportunities to ensure key reading, writing and oracy skills are of the highest priority.

Personal Development is integral to our curriculum and we strive for our children to become responsible, respectful, active citizens who contribute positively to society. Children develop an understanding and appreciation of  British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance.
